Our Mission

We believe children can learn anything through fun, well-crafted stories!

We’re on a mission to revolutionize the way kids learn through the magic of storytelling.

No matter what circumstances kids face in their lives, we’re dedicated to showing them that a world of infinite possibilities awaits within every game they play. Beyond supercharging our analytical minds and critical thinking skills, the countless pathways through a strategy game offer equally countless lessons about empathy, respect, and inner strength.

Above all, we believe that stories and games allow kids to express themselves creatively and that every child deserves to feel uninhibited joy as they unlock their true potential through play.

Our Story

Since 2018, Story Time Learning has made it possible for kids as young as three to master tricky subjects. We started as a chess tutoring company for kids offering a unique story-based curriculum that revealed the intricacies of chess one captivating chapter at a time.

As they followed our colorful cast of characters through the magical world of Chesslandia, kids swiftly became successful chess players and resilient thinkers in other areas of their lives.

This inspired us to expand our story-based approach into other arenas such as backgammon and card games, building a product line that’s been used in schools and homes around the world and which has garnered top awards like the Webby, Toy of the Year, TIME Best Invention, and more.

Our Unique Method

Our unique method harnesses the power of storytelling. Instead of having to learn complex, boring rules by rote memorization, children discover game concepts alongside friendly, relatable characters.

The design of every Story Time Learning program incorporates evidence-based core principles of applying a story narrative within games:
● Distributed narrative: The characters within each game become familiar to children; their storylines and patterns of behavior create continuities across lessons
●  Endogenous fantasy and intrinsic integration: The story and the gameplay are interwoven such that the story elements are directly related to the learning goals
●  Empathetic characters and virtual agents: The characters have distinct personalities, allowing children to find characters with whom they can identify.
●  Adaptive and responsive storytelling: Through play children make decisions that change the narrative and create a more engaging experience with personalized feedback.

Most importantly—it’s fun! Kids are naturally motivated to have fun and we lean into that instinct at every turn. Stories make these beneficial games something kids *want* to return to and they’ll be begging you to haul out chessboard or set up the backgammon pieces before you know it!

Our Technology

To design Story Time Learning’s new Curriculum Platform we gathered feedback from real teachers and school administrators, consulted global leaders in user experience, and rigorously tested the product in live classroom settings.

Each lesson on our platform seamlessly integrates with the physical Journals and Poster Guides provided with every curriculum license, keeping your students focused on listening, learning, and playing, with minimal screen time and maximum engagement with the board, the journals, and each other.

In addition, our platform provides valuable tools for teachers and administrators alike, including a progress tracking system, training videos, and pre-composed Family Engagement Emails that keep parents and guardians updated every time their kiddos’ class completes a lesson.
